The long vista across all spaces a distinct feature of the house. The window apertures and positioned for maximum light and privacy, with captured views into the moor and to the old church. The terrace and living area are bathed in daylight, with a sense of serene privacy and a soon to be beautifully landscaped slope, a place of peace, a home distinct to the client's desire. This project was done in collaboration with Architekturbüro Lindstedt.
Situated in the north west province NRW in Germany, the brief for this new private home in a rural town was to have an architecture that was modern in comparison but respectful of the surrounding scale. Central to the design brief was longevity in terms of access (no ramps, no stairs), privacy (reverse views and careful openings), and a degree of simplicity in its spatial logic. The concept of a spine allowed for an easy hierarchy and organisation of spaces.
